IRIS Mundial has recently signed an agreement to support the visual clinic in Terrier-Rouge, a small isolated village in the north of Haiti.

This is a community clinic managed by the NGO Espérance et Vie, where a nurse carries out visual screenings several days a week and refers patients to Dr. Marie-Carmelle Lucien-Guerrier, an ophthalmologist and an IRIS Mundial volunteer, who visits the site once a month. IRIS Mundial has created a surgical fund to subsidize some eye surgeries in Cap-Haitien and also sent some ophthalmological equipment to enhance services at the clinic: a visual acuity chart projector, a lensmeter, a slit lamp as well as several hundred frames and cases. These articles were dispatched by boat at the end of October. dispatched.

In the current context where any in-person help is difficult to offer in Haiti due to the unprecedented socio-political situation, we are very happy to be able to offer remote support to this partner whose mission is very similar to those of our Programs for Prevention and Fight Against Blindness (PPFB).
