Our team
IRIS Mundial has evolved and been able to expand its team over the years. Indeed, from 2001 to 2014, the organization was managed on a voluntary basis mainly by Dr. Jean-Pierre Tchang, optometrist. In 2015, Ms. Catherine Rioux was hired as Executive Director, becoming the organization’s first permanent employee. In 2019, Ms. Julie Roegiers was hired as Deputy General Manager during Ms. Catherine Rioux’s maternity leave.
Catherine Rioux
Catherine holds a bachelor’s degree in international politics and a master’s degree in international development and humanitarian action management. She also has several field experiences, mainly in Haiti, Mali and Peru, in addition to having visited many countries: India, Mexico, Nicaragua, Cuba, etc. Since joining IRIS Mundial in 2015, she has organized several one-off projects: Haiti 2016, Peru 2017 and Senegal 2018. In the past, the latter has also worked in a few NGOs in Quebec, including the Red Cross and Deuil-Jeunesse.
Julie Roegiers
Julie has a university degree in community economic development. In the past, she worked for four years for the Belgian Red Cross and nine years for Handicap International. She has also carried out international cooperation missions in many countries, including: North Korea, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Niger, Haiti, Colombia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burundi, Afghanistan, Iraq and DRC. The latter also sat on the board of directors of an NGO for nine years.
Obviously, the general management could not carry out its work without the contribution of invaluable volunteers who are involved in various committees at the level of communications, financing, projects, security, material management, strategy, etc. .
