Following these encouraging results, IRIS Mundial has decided to support the program for another year.

There was no ophthalmologic service in this department before the establishment of the PPFB in September 2010.

Implementation

In October 2010, a team of IRIS Mundial volunteers trained the local team (a nurse and a mobilizer assistant) in the planning and delivering of educational sessions and conducted vision screening in mobile clinics and schools. A vision clinic was installed and equipped at the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes-de Labrousse Health Center to provide ophthalmologic consultations.
